During transport or construction, wood beams and trusses are damaged. During renovations to structures or simply during the course of the life of the facility, beams, trusses, chords, load bearing walls, etc. are cut, broken, damaged, burned, or in some manner, compromised. Shield’s Structural Engineers provide individual design remediations to these problems in order to put the structural members back into adequate working condition.
When a building is constructed with a plan for its use (i.e., office building), it may not be structurally feasible to turn it into a library. Shield evaluates existing buildings to confirm proposed new use for the building will not compromise the structural integrity.
