Shield Engineering was retained to complete an asbestos inspection on the Boulevard Homes housing development as part of a planned redevelopment of the property. The project encompassed 122 individual buildings and over 344,000 square feet of occupied space. The project was complicated by the occupancy of most of the inspected units to be sampled and the short turn-around time for both completion of the field work and comprehensive written report. The project duration from inception to provision of the written report was 6 weeks.
Shield assembled a project team of North Carolina accredited asbestos inspectors and support staff to efficiently conduct the project, with minimum disruption to the tenants. Shield developed a concise reporting format, which included photographs documenting sampling locations, analytical results tables and written summary in a concise written document, allowing the client to quickly identify units for further evaluation and to develop budget estimates for rehabilitation and/or reconstruction.
