Shield is a common sense provider of Environmental, Engineering Design, Geotechnical Engineering and Emergency Spill Management services.
Services included planning, hydrant testing, modeling, engineering, and permitting of a water distribution system for a 963 acre, 400 lot Planned Unit Development on the Albemarle Sound in Chowan County, North Carolina. Distribution system modeling was accomplished using WaterCAD© and included initial model calibration of existing county distribution system data. The proposed distribution system model for the development was completed in accordance with the North Carolina standards for public water systems including minimum flow and pressure standards for fire hydrants. Once the distribution system models were approved, engineering designs and plans were prepared for the more than 53,000 linear feet of water mains and lateral lines, 43 hydrants, 6 creek and wetlands crossings, numerous gate valves, blowoff assemblies, and residential meter boxes. Construction inspections were performed by the Engineer of Record in accordance with the Engineer’s Certification requirements per North Carolina.
