Shield is a common sense provider of Environmental, Engineering Design, Geotechnical Engineering and Emergency Spill Management services.
Dilworth Elementary School was initially constructed in the early 1900s. Following construction of a new building on the property in the 1970’s, the original building was abandoned. The project at Dilworth Elementary School consists of renovations of both buildings as well as a multi-story connector containing a multi-purpose room and several classrooms. Shield provided the initial geotechnical investigation, including recommendations for a new multi-story building addition for Dilworth Elementary School. Seismic refraction testing was performed in order to obtain a higher seismic site class for the structural design of the project. Additionally, Shield performed construction materials testing services for Dilworth Elementary, including: fill density testing, undercut observation and quantification, foundation bearing verification, concrete and asphalt testing, special inspections of masonry, structural steel, and fireproofing.
