Shield was asked to provide an alternative geotechnical design for this waterfront residential lot located along Lake Wylie, South Carolina. The previous design included the construction of a 30 foot high segmental block retaining wall. Shield's design included: - a 14 foot high grid-reinforced slope, - a 14 foot high sub-basement reataining wall Shield provided slope stability analysis, geogrid fill slope and retaining wall design and the construction materials testing and inspection. Shield saved the homebuilder over $125,000 conpared to the design and construction of a new 30-foot high segmental block retaining wall.
