Shield Engineering, working closely with property owners, remediation contractors, regulatory personnel, insurance companies and legal counsel, is providing data collection, documentation and evaluation of the composition characteristics of Chinese drywall imported into the United States. Drywall was imported during 2004-2007 and used primarily in the southeastern U.S.
Shield is currently providing pre-remediation sampling for evidence preservation, post-remediation sampling to document effectiveness of in-place treatment and monitoring/evidence preservation during drywall removal.
Shield is actively involved in projects in Florida, evaluating an innovative remediation approach to address both odor and corrosion problems that are characteristic, especially with heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and electrical components. Shield continues to collect and analyze data to assist our clients in developing an effective, systematic approach to understanding the chemical composition of the drywall and the affects of the post-construction environment on the subsequent behavior of the dry wall once installed.
While the chemical composition of the drywall continues to be scrutinized, Shield is also evaluating other potential contributing factors. While current data is inconclusive, more extensive evaluation is currently underway.
