Shield Achieves First Post Construction Variance

On June 18th, 2009 Shield Engineering, Inc. successfully presented the first Variance to the Post Construction Controls Ordinance to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Storm Water Advisory Committee (SWAC). The variance was needed to eliminate the need for an on site Natural Area and Post Construction Stormwater Best Management Practices by allowing the property owner to mitigate the requirements. Under a unanimous decision, and with the City of Charlotte in support, the SWAC board approved the Mitigation-In-Lieu-Of site structures. This reduced the cost to the property owner by an estimated $100,000.
